Brooksville, FL.
The first stop on the West Florida AM Tour brought us to World Wood's magnificent Pine Barrens. Voted 4th best in the state, Pine Barrens did not disappoint amid miserable conditions too. It was a wet and dreary day in Brooksville but it was two Canadians, who brightened up their day by winning both the Net and Gross Divisions respectively.
Mike McIvor was victorious in the Net division as he was the only player to shoot above their quota, by posting a score of +3. However, with McIvor's round only consisting of one birdie, it was his ten pars that proved consistency was the key in such poor weather. Finishing behind him was Martin Harm who beat Jim Sloat in a scorecard play off to secure the second place finish.
Meanwhile, over in the Gross Division fellow Canadian and Dalewood Golf Club member Kyle Campbell took the spoils as he finished with a gross total of 28. Campbell's back nine gave him the victory with birdies on both 11 and 14. Campbell will be delighted to enter the winners circle for the very first time on the WFAT.
Despite the weather, Pine Barrens was a beautiful place for the WFAT to start the season as the course was in fantastic shape. The WFAT would like to thank all the players and especially the staff at World Woods Golf Club for making today such a success.
